What do you learn in your vocal lessons?

We do not treat each student the same in terms of what we teach.  A 9-year old taking singing lessons for the first time will have a very different course of study than a 19-year old who is preparing for a college audition.  Here at the Academy, we customize each lesson to achieve your personal goals.  You will learn sight reading, improvisation, rhythm, ear training, music theory, and performing skills, all while singing your favorite music!

Our instructors are experienced, well-qualified, and versatile.  They teach all styles of music, whether folk, rock, jazz, blues, sacred, or classical.

Singing lessons for children

Singing lessons are recommended for children ages 5 – 13.  These lessons are designed to support your child’s growing ability, while helping them develop in a healthy manner.  Young vocal chords need to be carefully nurtured, and there is risk of damage if they are misused.  Our singing lessons include instruction in pronunciation, pitch, tone, rhythm, breath support, and vocal chord health.

Our singing lessons are perfect for your child.  Whether they want to sing Frank Sinatra, Katy Perry, or contemporary Christian, we can guide them through the skills of reading music, improvisation, singing by ear, music theory, and performing.

Vocal lessons for teens

Vocal lessons are recommended for teens and young adults.  These lessons are designed to support your  growing ability, while continuing to help you be healthy as you develop.  Tone, breath control, projection, pronunciation, sight reading and sight singing, music theory, and expression are just a few of the things that can be taught in these lessons.  Whether you want to learn just for yourself, audition for the school musical, get some help with your choir music, or have huge aspirations of performing, we can help you on your journey!

No matter what your favorite style of music, we can guide you through the skills of reading music, improvisation, singing by ear, music theory, composing, and performing.

Adult Voice Lessons

Whether you are preparing for a college audition, or just learning because it’s been on your bucket list for years, we work with you to accomplish your personal goals.  Your teacher will assist you in learning your favorite music, while gaining skills in sight reading, ear training, improvisation, music theory, and performing.  If you are an adult voice student, you will master the basic mechanics of singing while focusing on the repertoire you’d like to learn.

If you are a senior and are looking for music lessons as a fun challenge, you’ve come to the right place!  Voice lessons are a great way to keep you busy, learning, growing, and stimulating the brain.

Who is my instructor?

All of our teachers have college degrees in music or extensive performance/teaching experience.  We choose our instructors for their warm personalities.  Our teachers work well with both children and adults, and are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.  They are friendly, patient, and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level.  Our teachers also have experience in teaching non-traditional students, such as students with special needs and abilities.

There are three different options for music lessons at Loveland Academy of Music:
